About us
Who we are & why laboratories trust us
Supporting Laboratories since 2015
Founded in 2015, RIDING BYTES GmbH is based in Fuerth, Bavaria, Germany. Led by Ramon Bartl — Applied Computer Science degree, MBA, and over a decade of open-source development — we build and maintain SENAITE LIMS, the open-source laboratory information management system used by laboratories worldwide. We are not just service providers, we are the core developers behind the project.

Founder & SENAITE Core Developer
"Your work is going to fill a large part of your life, and the only way to be truly satisfied is to do what you believe is great work."
Assistant of the Management
"Success is not the key to happiness. Happiness is the key to success. If you love what you are doing, you will be successful."
Core Developers of SENAITE LIMS
As core developers, contributors and founders of the SENAITE LIMS open-source project, we play a key role in its ongoing development and maintenance — ensuring that our clients benefit from cutting-edge, open-source technology that adapts to their lab.
European partner network
We work as one team with NARALABS (Barcelona, Spain), the other founding SENAITE Core Developer organization. Together we form the project's senior engineering core in Europe — same standards, broader reach.
Where we come from
RIDING BYTES GmbH is incorporated in Fuerth, Bavaria. First professional services for Bika LIMS laboratories.
The SENAITE project is launched as a modern fork of Bika LIMS. RIDING BYTES is one of the founding contributors.
Bridgehead release: modular codebase, modern UI components, and the JSON API that powers integrations like SENAITY.
Managed-service tiers for monitoring, maintenance, and support. HealthWatch instruments every production install with database, instance, and storage health probes.
HL7 v2 over MLLP support lands in the senaite.astm 2.x branch, feeding ASTM and HL7 instruments into SENAITE through a single push consumer.
ML-based anomaly-QA layer for SENAITE LIMS. Catches suspicious results before the verified-and-published step. Runs on-premise next to your SENAITE.
Our forward direction: migrating the SENAITE stack to a fully Python 3 native runtime, keeping pace with modern Plone and clearing the path for typed APIs and faster CI.
