SENAITE Enterprise VM
Take full control of your LIMS with a pre-configured SENAITE Enterprise Virtual Machine. The latest SENAITE 2.x on a hardened Debian server, scalable and robust, ready for production or staging on day one.
We take the slow part of a SENAITE rollout (the server build, the cluster topology, the load balancer, the monitoring, the backup tooling) and ship it as a finished VM image. Your team starts at "configure for our lab" instead of "install and tune the stack."
Your laboratory's customisation lives in its own add-on, separate from the platform. Sample types, analysis services, and report templates can be adapted right away, and SENAITE updates stay clean.
- Debian 13 Server. Up-to-date base OS with long-term support and the patch cadence enterprise IT expects.
- SENAITE LIMS 2.x preinstalled. The latest release of the platform, with all dependencies pinned and reproducible.
- ZEO cluster setup. A ZEO storage server with several clients for the users and a reserved client for administrative work, so the system grows with you instead of forcing a re-architecture later.
- HAProxy load balancing. Even traffic distribution and graceful failover between the ZEO clients.
- NGINX front controller. Optimised reverse proxy with HTTP/2, gzip, and cache headers tuned for SENAITE.
- Munin monitoring. Real-time graphs of CPU, memory, disk, ZEO worker health, and request throughput from day one.
- SENAITE HealthWatch. A health service on the server that checks the instance, the backups, and the scheduled jobs. It is the basis for the monitoring in SENAITE Care.
- Automated backup & restore. Daily backups, a weekly ZODB pack, and backup and restore scripts.
- Operations tooling. Helper scripts for logs, backups, database packing, and pinning source versions, log rotation, and a server inventory page refreshed every night.
- Optional PostgreSQL. A PostgreSQL database with a read-only user and a web viewer for reporting and analytics outside SENAITE.
- UFW firewall & hardening. Industry-standard Linux security baseline applied out of the box.
- Documentation. Installation, customisation, and operations guides covering the whole stack.
- Time to value. The infrastructure is finished; you spend your time on the workflow, not the runtime.
- Predictable footprint. The stack is the same on every install we ship, which makes support, upgrades, and audits straightforward.
- Scalable from the start. ZEO + HAProxy means adding workers later is configuration, not migration.

- Secure by default. UFW and OS hardening. HealthWatch is in place, so SENAITE Care can take over monitoring and maintenance without changes to the server.
For labs under ISO 17025 clause 7.11 or 21 CFR Part 11 §11.10(a), the Enterprise VM is the practical answer to "how do we make our IQ repeatable". Same image, same pinned versions, same hardening on every deployment: the artefact you validate in one environment is the artefact you deploy in another. After we receive your order, our team prepares the VM image and the documentation bundle and uploads them to your secure download location within three working days.
The image ships as a standard OVA / qcow2 you can run on VMware, Proxmox, KVM, or Hyper-V, in your own data centre or with the infrastructure provider of your choice.
